The Application of Network English Resources in College English Teaching

Abstract

In the network age of high—tech fantastic advance, the modern English teaching pattern is making full use of abundant network resources. How to make use of the web to facilitate English teaching and learning has become a central issue for both learners and instructors.
    In this paper, the results of survey on the teachers and students of Hunan Institute of Science and Technology is reported. The instruments employed in this survey include a written questionnaire and analyze the situation of the application of network resources in our college English teaching:The results of the application of network English resource in college English teaching, the advantages and disadvantages of web—based English teaching and learning in comparison with the traditional language classroom, the methods teachers and students make use of the web.
The findings of the survey reveal that the web has greatly influenced the traditional language teaching; both teachers and students have affirmative attitudes toward web—based English teaching; English students are highly motivated by the net; the use of the internet may promote learners’ language skills and other numerous skills to some extent. However, the findings also show that problems and challenges still exist among students and teachers and the use of the web still needs improvement. Furthermore, the paper puts forward some considerations and suggestions on how to use the web effectively to facilitate English teaching and learning.

摘 要

在高科技迅猛發(fā)展的網(wǎng)絡(luò)時代,新興的英語教學模式充分利用了網(wǎng)絡(luò)資源。利用網(wǎng)絡(luò)輔助英語教學已經(jīng)成為學習者和教師共同關(guān)心的熱點。
   本文以湖南理工學院外語系、中文系、經(jīng)管系的部分師生為對象,采用問卷和面談等研究工具,調(diào)查分析了該校網(wǎng)絡(luò)英語資源在大學英語教學中的應(yīng)用情況,主要集中討論以下3個方面:應(yīng)用網(wǎng)絡(luò)資源的英語教學效果如何;和傳統(tǒng)教學相比,它有哪些優(yōu)勢和不足;教師和學生在大學英語教學中通過什么方法應(yīng)用網(wǎng)絡(luò)資源。
調(diào)查報告結(jié)果顯示互聯(lián)網(wǎng)極大影響了傳統(tǒng)英語教學,教師和學生都對運用網(wǎng)絡(luò)資源教學持有贊成的態(tài)度;學生的學習熱情很高;因特網(wǎng)的使用在1定程度上提高了學生的語言技巧和其它很多技巧。然而,調(diào)查結(jié)果也顯示了在學生和教師間所存在的問題和挑戰(zhàn),以及因特網(wǎng)的運用仍需改進。本文并對如何有效利用網(wǎng)絡(luò)輔助英語教學提出了建議.
